Rent a bicycle
You’ll be surpised to see that you can rent a bicycle practically anywhere in P.B. We recommend a bicycle shop just passed the Ralph’s grocery store up Grand Ave called Surf Monkey Bikes.
Belmont Park
Located a mile and a half south down the boardwalk is the amusement park, Belmont Park. Belmont Park is the home of the historic wooden coaster, the Giant Dipper, which was built in 1925 and fully restored in 1990. Belmont Park has every amusement available: shopping, arcade games, carnival games, rockwall climbing, and even surfing at the Wavehouse!
Beach Boardwalk
Miles of boardwalk stretch north and south of the hotel. Get a sense of your surroundings by taking a stroll in either direction! You will get a true sense of the beach environment and you’ll easily absorb the Pacific Beach culture.
Restaurants & Bars
You’ll find an assortment of excellent restaurants in our area, and an eclectic bar scene, all within walking distance!
Farmer’s Market Tuesday
Between Garnet Ave and Grand Ave, take a 5 minute stroll Bayard Street, where you’ll find a gathering of craft supplies, and fresh organic produce. There is an excellent source of ingredients to be found here, and you may even be lucky to see a musician or two!
Fiesta Island
It would be a shame not to mention Fiesta Island! Within Mission Bay, there is a vast strip of bayfront beach where there are hardly any restrictions
Torrey Pines Gliderport
Just north of La Jolla along the cliffs of Torrey Pines, you can find the Torrey Pines Gliderport. Here you can find picnic tables and a food stand with a variety of snacks. Weather permitting, enjoy the windswept cliffs and watch the parasailors and hang-gliders drifting up and down the coast, where they make flying look like a breeze! You may even choose to fly in a tandam glider if you are feeling the sense of adventure.
Mount Soledad
4 miles north of the hotel, sitting above 800 feet in elevation, you can find the National Veterans Memorial on Mount Soledad. While taking in the amazing view, you can pay respects to our veterans from every branch of military. There are plenty of benches, steps, and grassy areas that make a picnic possible if you wanted to take your time in observing the ocean seascape.
Balboa Park
The San Diego Zoo is located in the Balboa Park area of San Diego, but isn’t the only thing to see in this area. Balboa Park is also the home to the San Diego Natural History Museum, the Fleet Science Center, and the Botanical Building, amoung many other restaurants and activities.
